In 1976 a Bedford water tender was delivered to Broadway fire station. Although already nine years old, it was a great improvement on the twenty year old Dennis appliance it replaced. The aging Dennis had become an embarrassment to the station, and on one occassion had to be push started when turning out to a fire.
