Broadway 26th April 1973.

The gas main on fire at the junction of High Street and Leamington Road.
Crews are being deployed to cool the building. The fractured main was in a trench which had been excavated just below the window.

In the photo below a jet of burning gas can clearly be seen extending from the trench below the window, up to the roof level.

To this day, the stone above the window is a different colour due to scorching.
