This is the only known photo of Broadway's manual engine.
The
photo
was published in the Evesham Journal in June 1939 following the fire at
Tichmarsh & Hunt’s premises. At this time the pump was forty-two
years old, and still being used by the Broadway brigade.
The words ‘Broadway Fire Brigade’ and the date, ‘1897’
can just be seen.
