The
National Fire Service (NFS) took over from the local authority brigades
on 18th August 1941.
Following the heavy bombing of Britain it was felt that fire-fighting needed to be co-ordinated on a national scale. The country was divided into thirty-nine areas or Fire Forces. The Broadway brigade was part of No 23 Fire Force. |
